Our Story Since 1971

Clear Light began in 1971, when founder Josh Peine started sharing small-batch, wild-harvested cedar products at the Placitas Farmers’ Market. What began with hand-gathered green cedar needles, simple sachets and a deep love for New Mexico’s aromatic high country grew into a classic Desert Southwest home and body care brand.

In 2010, after the company had closed, Keith West revived Clear Light Cedar with a renewed purpose: to bring the restorative fragrances of the Southwest back into everyday life. Inspired by the plants, trees and wild places he encountered while backpacking throughout the region, Keith continued the original spirit of the company while expanding its products for the body, home and daily ritual.

More than 50 years later, Clear Light Cedar still carries the same promise: the clean, grounding scent of New Mexico cedar, harvested with respect, crafted in small batches and made to bring a little of the wild back home.
